Kalo Pothi’s special screening held in Maryland

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Nepal America Film Society (NAFS) has organized a special screening of ‘Kalo Pothi’ (The Black Hen) at Maryland in the US. The film, directed by Min Bahadur Bham and selected as Nepal’s official submission for the Foreign Language category in this year’s Oscars, was screened amid a ceremony held on last Sunday at a local theater in Maryland.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Nepal America Film Society (NAFS) has organized a special screening of ‘Kalo Pothi’ (The Black Hen) at Maryland in the US. The film, directed by Min Bahadur Bham and selected as Nepal’s official submission for the Foreign Language category in this year’s Oscars, was screened amid a ceremony held on last Sunday at a local theater in Maryland. 



More than 200 Nepali living in and around Washington DC metro area were present in the screening ceremony including officials of Embassy of Nepal in the US, representatives of Non Resident Nepali Association and other organizations, according to Purna Singh Baraily, president of NAFS. 



The society has also felicitated Min Bahadur Bham during the ceremony. An interaction program was also held with the film director Bham following the screening of the movie. 



“The screening of the movie was organized to promote Nepali cinema in the diaspora. We hope the screening of this type of movies will help to connect Nepali diaspora with Nepali art, language and culture,” Baraily told Republica in an email. “We will continue to screen other Nepali movies in the coming days,” he added.
