Karnali Chief Minister Sharma wins vote of confidence

SURKHET, March 31: Karnali Chief Minister Rajkumar Sharma has won the vote of confidence. A total of 38 parliamentarians from four parties gave the vote of confidence to Chief Minister Sharma in the Province Assembly meeting held on Friday afternoon.

SURKHET, March 31: Karnali Chief Minister Rajkumar Sharma has won the vote of confidence. A total of 38 parliamentarians from four parties gave the vote of confidence to Chief Minister Sharma in the Province Assembly meeting held on Friday afternoon.



Among the 39 provincial assembly members, who participated in the voting, 38 votes were cast in favor of Chief Minister Sharma and only 1 vote was cast against him.

Sharma has received the votes of all parties and independent parliamentarians except RPP. Provincial Assembly members, who voted in his favor included 14 members from Nepali Congress (NC) , 13 from CPN (Maoist Center), 9 from CPN-UML, one each from CPN (Unified Socialist) and an independent lawmaker Devraj Shahi).


Earlier on January 20, Chief Minister Sharma had won the vote of confidence with the support of UML and RPP. However, RPP withdrew its support to  Sharma. 


Sharma was appointed as the Chief Minister of Karnali Province on January 10. Sharma was supported by members of UML, Maoist Center, RPP and the Unified Socialist.
