KARNALI, June 20: The Karnali Province government has started preparations for disaster response to mitigate the loss of lives and property due to natural disasters. The monsoon became active in Karnali from Monday, according to the local meteorological office.
The provincial government's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law is convening a meeting of the executive committee today to prepare the action plan for disaster preparedness and response. The meeting will also hold necessary discussions and make decisions for making rescue and relief works efficient.

Provincial government Spokesperson and minister for internal affairs and law, Krishna Bahadur GC said that the Executive Committee is holding its meeting today under the chairmanship of the Internal Affairs Minister. The thematic ministries and other stakeholders will attend the meeting to chalk out the disaster preparedness action plan.
He said a meeting of the Province Disaster Management Council will be held immediately after the meeting of the executive committee to endorse the action plan.
Internal Affairs Ministry secretary Dhruba Ghimire said the meeting shall determine the role and responsibilities of the line ministries, the security bodies, partner organizations, civil society and the media in connection with disaster preparedness, response and mitigation, in view of the monsoon which has already entered the province.
