Kathmandu Valley records highest PM 2.5 reading of 145.72 µg/m3 on Sunday, improving slightly compared to last day

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The Kathmandu Valley where the country’s federal capital is located, has witnessed a slight improvement in the quality of air as the highest PM 2.5 reading of 145.72µg/m3  (between 9AM and 10AM) was recorded on Sunday compared to the 226.11 µg/m3  measured between 9 AM and 10 AM on Saturday.

The quality of air in the country’s most densely-populated city, however, has been measured far higher than that of the standard of 25 µg/m3 set by WHO and 40 µg/m3  by the Government of Nepal.


The lowest PM 2.5 reading (97.44 µg/m3 ) was reported in the afternoon between 3 and 4.
