‘Kathmandu World Debates 2019’ all set to kick off on September 12

Kathmandu World Debates 2019—a parliamentary debate tournament is being organized on September 12 at the premises of Kathmandu World School, Bhaktapur. Organized by Aagaman in collaboration with Kathmandu World School and Debate Network Nepal, the tournament is being handled by a group of youngsters led by co-conveners of the tournament — Romanshika Singh and Aarohi Poudel.



According to a press statement issued by Aagaman, the championship will see the participation of a total of 104 teams from Nepal and abroad. It added that the forms for selection were based on the participants’ debating experiences and their passion for debating and learning something new. The participants will debate in a motion provided to them in a British parliamentary format.

The press statement further stated that Harish Natarajan from the UK, one of the best debaters and judges in the world, will be the chief adjudicator of the tournament who will be accompanied by Parth Maniktala from India; Miraz Rahman from Bangladesh; Pawan Adhikari, Milan Bishwakarma and Shreya Joshi from Nepal.


Over 400 youths from India, Bangladesh, Australia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Malaysia will participate in the event.


The five-day-long event is slated to continue till September 16.
