KMC Mayor Shah files complaint against two media houses

KATHMANDU, July 19: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has lodged a complaint at Nepal Press Council demanding action against the Nepal Samacharpatra daily and Himalayan Television.

KATHMANDU, July 19: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has lodged a complaint at Nepal Press Council demanding action against the Nepal Samacharpatra daily and Himalayan Television. 



The media outlets are accused of spreading fictitious, misleading and fabricated news about the metropolitan city.

A few days ago, Nepal Samacharpatra and Himalayan Television had accused Shah of allocating Rs 10 million for a Facebook page ‘Routine of Nepal Banda’ in the name of e-sport competition.


Mayor Shah has written, "Since the media houses have not complied with their duties according to Section 4 of the Code of Conduct of Journalists 2073 BS by publishing and broadcasting the news that the budget has been allocated to a certain organization, I demand action including compensation from both media houses in accordance with Section 7 of the same Code of Conduct."
