KMC Mayor Shah unveils  trophy of Ninth National Games in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah unveiled the trophy of the Ninth National Games 2022 in Basantapur Durbar Square on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah unveiled the trophy of the Ninth National Games 2022 in Basantapur Durbar Square on Thursday.



Mayor Shah unveiled the trophy amidst a program organized by a five-member trophy tour task force formed under the coordination of Olympian Deepak Bista.


The government has created a running trophy for the first time for the National Games. The trophy was first unveiled by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on September 16. The trophy built at a cost of Rs 1 million will be permanently awarded to the winner if they win the game for three consecutive years. The trophy has been built using five kilograms of silver and two tolas of gold.

This time, the National Sports Council has taken the trophy to the capitals of all seven provinces, metropolitan cities and other places.


The Ninth National Games will be held in different districts of Gandaki Province from October 14 to October 20. The opening ceremony and conclusion of the games will be held at Pokhara Stadium. It is said that the President and the Prime Minister will participate in the opening ceremony.
