KMC prohibits vehicular movement on various routes during Indra Jatra

KATHMANDU, Sept 26:  The traffic on various roads of Kathmandu will be affected during the Indra Jatra festival from September 28.



Kathmandu Metropolis issued a notice today regarding traffic management during Yanaya (Indra Jatra) and has banned the operation of vehicles on September 28 in Basantapur, Maru, Chikanmugal, Jaisi Deval, Lagan, Brahmatol, Ko Hiti, Bhimsensthan, Maru to Basantpur.

Vehicular movement is prohibited in Basantpur, Pyaphal, Yatkha, Naradevi, Tangal, Nhyokha, Naktala, Ason, Machhindra Bahal, Indrachok, Makhan, Hanuman Dhoka in Basantpur area on September 29 and driving is prohibited in Basantpur, Pyaphal, Yatkha, Naradevi area via Kilagh, Bhedasin, Indrachok, Makhan on October 2.


The metropolis has said that the cultural, social and religious activities of this Jatra will be conducted on foot as it has become a festival of cultural, historical and archaeological importance centered on Basantapur. In addition, KMC has also requested that the passengers, who have to go to their destinations by that route to prevent vehicles from entering the designated places, should help in traffic management by choosing an alternative route or walking.
