KMC to conduct traffic awareness programs in public schools

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will start a traffic awareness program from community schools. This decision was taken by a meeting of officers including the head of the Valley Traffic Police Office and Deputy Inspector General of Police Mira Chaudhary in the office of Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will start a traffic awareness program from community schools. This decision was taken by a meeting of officers including the head of the Valley Traffic Police Office and Deputy Inspector General of Police Mira Chaudhary in the office of Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on Monday.



Deputy Mayor said, "We are advancing the work of all-round development of the students through the program of providing life-useful knowledge and skills. Students are carriers of information. Change can be brought about quickly from them.”

Similarly, DIG Chaudhary said, “This type of awareness program conducted in schools will have a long-term positive impact on Kathmandu's traffic management. A fruitful collaboration with the metropolis has begun officially.”


In the first phase of the awareness program, classes will be held in community schools. According to the head of education department, Ram Prasad Subedi, the first class will be held for everyone at the time of prayer. After that, education and knowledge about traffic volunteers will be given to older class students based on interest and age.


The students who have taken theoretical classes will be taught practical skills on the road as volunteers. The program that started with community schools is aimed to be expanded to institutional schools.
