A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Provincial Assembly has decided to hold the election of the Speaker at 3 PM today. The agenda will be published shortly.

Earlier, the ruling coalition had decided to give the Speaker to the candidate belonging to the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The ruling alliance is fielding its candidate for the post after holding internal discussions within the ruling coalition.
Leader of the RPP Parliamentary Party Bhakti Prasad Sitaula said that the parliamentary party meeting held on Tuesday morning decided to meet after the publication of the election schedule.
It is said that RPP is preparing to field the candidacy of Ambar Bahadur Bista for the post.
There is a possibility that Bista will be elected unopposed as Speaker. Bista will be elected unopposed if CPN-UML does not field its candidacy. The parliamentary party meeting of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, is currently underway to discuss the issue of the Speaker.
