Kulekhani Third to contribute 14 MW to national grid

MAKAWANPUR, Aug 22: The Kulekhani Third Hydropower Project is generating 14-MW electricity before Dashain festival that falls on early weeks of October. The project being constructed at Bhimphedi rural municipality-1, Sanotar in Makawanpur is contributing 14-MW to the national grid.

MAKAWANPUR, Aug 22: The Kulekhani Third Hydropower Project is generating 14-MW electricity before Dashain festival that falls on early weeks of October. The project being constructed at Bhimphedi rural municipality-1, Sanotar in Makawanpur is contributing 14-MW to the national grid.



In this connection, the task of linking the electricity produced from the Kulekhani Third to the national transmission line, the project sources said.

The project has set a target to complete remaining construction in Sanotar power house and install cables at the earliest. A Chinese team is engaging in accomplishing the tasks.


Subas Babu Mishra, project chief, said coordination with high-placed officials of Nepal Electricity Authority was also being made for the same. The hydropower project is being constructed at Rs 4.5 billion investment of the Nepal Electricity Authority.


Presently total 92 MW electricity including 60 MW from Kulekhani First and 32 MW from Kulekhani Second is being generated in a regular manner.
