KATHMANDU, July 10: Failure of Kathmandu District Education Office to provide records of secondary level schools to the local levels (Kathmandu Metropolitan City) has affected due process.

Following the elections to local levels last year, the authority of looking after secondary level education has been shifted to the local levels. "Without records of the schools, we are finding it hard to keep a record of their regular activities and detailed information," said Prahlad Aryal, Chief of the Education Department of the KMC.

All details of the schools like their quotas and numbers of students should be kept for various purposes, he said.

He said their repeated call for providing detailed information of the schools has gone unheard.

However, District Education Officer Nanda Lal Poudel said they were ready to give records of the schools. "The law has authorized local levels to look after secondary level education. We have kept records of secondary level schools and we are ready to provide it. But representatives of the KMC are yet to visit us for it," he said.

So far, approximately 800 secondary level schools (100 public and 700 private) are into operation within the KMC. RSS
