PHOTOS: Last Monday of Shrawan in Shankharapur

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Shrawan is one of the holiest months in the Hindu calendar. Devotees of Lord Shiva perform religious rituals and take brata (fasting) on this day. Each Monday of the month, known as Shrawan Sombar, is a special day at Shiva temples. Hindu devotees walk barefoot and with holy water to offer to Lord Shiva.

Locals in Shankharapur of Kathmandu fetched holy water from a nearby river, reached the Jyotirlingeshwor chanting ‘Bol Bam’ and offered water. Due to COVID-19 fears this year, only a few people attended the Bol Bam procession.
