Speaking at the Legislature-Parliament session here today, lawmakers showed their concern towards alleged statements made by government ministers against federal democratic republic which is in process of getting institutionalized. They prodded the government on divulging the reasons as to why the earthquake-stricken were yet to receive relief.

Some lawmakers raised a satirical question asking if the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) had turned into an NGO for recruiting CPN (UML) cadres or a body tasked with the mission to bring relief to the quake-stricken people.

Madhesi Front boycotts parliamentary session

Tarai-Madhes Sadbhawana Party's Mahendra Raya Yadav drew the House Speaker's attention towards addressing the demands being raised for long by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and Tharuhat Tarai Party among others.

He complained at the lack of attention from the local administration towards increasing violence against women (VAW) in Sarlahi. He urged the Home Minister to take action against the local administration for condoning VAW.

The government has shown no interest in holding dialogue with the Madhesi Front or taking into confidence the dissident groups, Yadav complained while pressing for implementation of the eight point agreement reached earlier.
