KATHMANDU, March 7: Leapfrog Technology, a tech company in Nepal, celebrated Women's Day by fostering education and diversity on its premises. As part of the event, 65 middle-school students from Padma Kanya Bidyashram Secondary School were invited to participate in a LeapEd session.

During the session, the students were introduced to fundamental technology concepts, contextualized within their daily lives, and explored topics like algorithms and smartphone applications.

The event also provided a platform for female software engineers and trainers to share their experiences and insights into the software engineering profession. The objectives of the event included enhancing collaboration with local schools, inspiring young girls to explore opportunities in technology, and promoting gender diversity in the tech industry.

“The way the mentors taught us and their presentations were remarkable. Instead of going directly into the topic, they gave examples: like making hats, and cooking momo, which was interesting. Momo is a favorite Nepali food. Using it as an example, we were introduced to complex topics like data, security, and everything related to the subject matter. This was really informative,” Mahima, an 8th grader at Padma Kanya said, “Today's session has got me thinking about pursuing a career in the IT sector.”

Leapfrog Technology aims to support young students in achieving their aspirations through initiatives like LeapEd, which opens doors to the world of technology and innovation.
