KATHMANDU, Oct 12: CPN-UML leader Yuvaraj Gyawali has said that this is not the right time for the constitution amendment.

He said, " there is a very little time left for the constitution implementation. We should focus on constitution implementation rather than constitution amendment because there are lots of works to be done before we go for elections."

He warned that if constitution amendment  is carried on now, country might plunge into perpetual conflict.

Vice-chair Gyawali added, " if we amend the constitution only for the Madhes-centric parties, other groups will come up with their demands. And if we keep fulfilling the demand of every agitating group,  there will be no time left for constitution implementation."

Meanwhile,  he accused the agitating parties of not coming up with concrete proposals for different topics of constitution amendment.

He said, " the disputed issues of constitution amendment should be put forward. Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist-center) are talking absurd things."

"If we stick to the amendment issue of the constitution, the implementation process will be sidelined," lamented Gyawali.

He suggested that the main parties should understand the urgency of the implementation of the constitution by holding three elections on time.

He said, " if local elections are conducted on time, it will be a great achievement. We should not be distracted by the amendment issues. First, let's go for the elections then we will institutionalize our issues with the people's mandate."
