TANAHUN, April 8: The locals of Shuklagandaki Municipality-2, Haledi, obstructed the Gachhepani-Kotre road section of Prithvi Highway for an hour on Sunday demanding that the road section be immediately upgraded. Commuters, in heavy number, were affected for an hour due to the shut down.
According to the locals, the road condition is pathetic it causes dust pollution in dry season and is muddy and slippery during rain. They also expressed disappointment over the government's negligence regarding the casualties that occur on a daily basis. The locals have held the Road Division of Damauli responsible for the delay in upgrading the road which has become a reason for accidents.

“The stakeholders frequently visit the site, conduct road survey and assure to mend the road at the earliest, however, the condition remains the same,” a local, Hari Lal Rimal said, adding, “Therefore, we were compelled to take such action on the street.”
Rimal warned to continue with the protest until the authorities agree to upgrade the road. The road has remained in pathetic condition since the last two years.
Despite the road being a vital highway connecting Pokhara with Kathmandu, it is in a miserable condition.
