BIRATNAGAR, June 28: Locals of Buddhanagar of Biratnagar-18 have been successful in stopping an Indian company from digging the no man's land by using a bulldozer. The company which was digging the no man's land in the area using a dozer without consulting the Nepali authorities, stopped the act after protests from the locals.

This Indian company which has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing an Integrated Check Post (ICP) was continuously digging the land from the southern part of the no man's land. The contractor company was digging the mud for the ICP from the no man's land without the permission of Nepali authority, according to Anandi Mandal, one of the locals.

After the locals started the protests, the Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) first pressurized the locals to get back to work.  Reportedly, the dozer was used to dig up the no man's land as per the direction of Abhdesh Sah, one of the representatives of the company. The Indian side backed off only when the Nepali locals firmly told them that they should take permission from the Nepali authorities too before constructing any kind of structures along the border.

Indian representatives living in the border area too were called for discussions after the incident.
