Locals protest over footpath expansion in New Road, police deployed (With Photos)

KATHMANDU, July 19: Locals have protested against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's (KMC) ongoing work to expand the footpath in the New Road area.

KATHMANDU, July 19: Locals have protested against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's (KMC) ongoing work to expand the footpath in the New Road area.



After the High Court cleared the way for footpath expansion, the KMC resumed work on Wednesday. However, the situation became tense as locals voiced their opposition to the project.

In response to the locals’ protests, Nepal Police, KMC Police, and other security personnel have been deployed in the New Road area to maintain order.


Previously, THE KMC had demolished the road pavement for footpath expansion in the New Road area, but the Road Division Office intervened and seized the materials.
