TANAHUN, Aug 19: Students at Bishnu Secondary School of Nahala, Bandipur Rural Municipality-1, who were facing drinking water problems now have access to drinking water. The water was extracted through the boring system.

Water accessibility via boring has also helped the locals in the area where they usually faced heavy water crises in the past. The representatives have made the arrangement go sustainable in the area. “Due to the lack of drinking water in the entire village, the school was also deprived of sufficient water. Not only for drinking, but we are also able to use the water for cleanliness purpose now,” said chairperson of the school management committee, Hari Krishna Adhikari.

One of the students, Anisha Bhandari stated that water scarcity had previously degraded the school's sanitation. “With the access to drinking water, the sanitation problem seems to get solved now,” added Bhandari.

“The rural municipality has supported the project with a budget of Rs 750,000 in order to ensure water availability at the school,” said chairperson of the rural municipality, Purna Singh Thapa.

Ward Chairperson of Bandipur-1, Bhanu Bhakta Pokharel stated that there was a water shortage in the area due to the absence of water sources nearby. However, extracting water through the boring system was possible in the area. “Water extracted through the system signifies that there is much potential for boring water systems in the area,” added Pokharel.

School Principal Jeewan Nath Poudel further stated that the budget is not sufficient for constructing enough toilets for about three hundred students who study at his school. “The school will require an additional amount to build enough toilets at the school,” added Poudel.
