Lockdown in Sunsari for 14 days, army mobilized

DHARAN, May 16: Sunsari will go for 14 days of lockdown from Saturday to May 29. The District Administration Office has extended the period for another two weeks as the prohibitory order was not effective.

DHARAN, May 16: Sunsari will go for 14 days of lockdown from Saturday to May 29. The District Administration Office has extended the period for another two weeks as the prohibitory order was not effective.



The infection rate is high in Sunsari district and the death rate is also increasing. According to Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal, Nepal Army has also been deployed in Dharan, Itahari and Inaruwa areas. According to CDO Dhakal, the army has been mobilized to spread public awareness about COVID-19 and to effectively implement the lockdown.

The general public has been banned from going out except to buy medicine and receive treatment. All shops, except pharmacies, have also been directed to shut down. Milk and milk products are allowed to be sold until 8AM, and green vegetables can be delivered to homes by 8AM in coordination with local bodies. DSP Gyanendra Basnet of the Area Police Office, Dharan said that the entire police force has been mobilized to fully implement the lockdown.
