Maj Gen Nirmal Kumar Thapa recommended for promotion to Lieutenant General

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Nirmal Kumar Thapa, a Major General of the Nepali Army, has been recommended for promotion to the vacant Lieutenant General post.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Nirmal Kumar Thapa, a Major General of the Nepali Army, has been recommended for promotion to the vacant Lieutenant General post.



Thapa was recommended for promotion after Sitaram Khadka's compulsory retirement on December 19. The promotion recommendation committee of the Nepali Army decided to make the recommendation on Wednesday.

A seven-day notice has been issued for that. Military Spokesperson Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari said that a notice has been issued with the decision to recommend the Thapa for promotion to the post of Lieutenant General.


Major General Thapa is currently working as a force commander in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Syria.
