Man-eating tiger taken under control

NEPALGUNJ, March 2: A man-eating tiger at Banke's Raptipari has finally been brought under control. The tiger was taken under control in the forest of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality Ward 6 on Wednesday morning.



According to Dadilal Kandel, head of the Division Forest Office, Banke, the tiger was taken under control in the forest at the eastern canal of Sikta in Fatehpur. Currently, a team including the Division Forest office is preparing to bring the unconscious tiger there.

For the past 12 days, a goat had been tied up in the area to attract the tiger. According to Pradip Poudel, a local of Fatehpur, after the tiger pounced on the goat, the team took control of it on Wednesday morning.


A team of technicians from the National Nature Conservation Fund, Division Forest Office, Banke National Park and local forest consumers took the tiger under control. Dhan Bahadur Chalaune, a 60-year-old resident of Rapti Sonari Rural Ward 6 was attacked and killed by this tiger on February 19.


After that incident, a goat was kept as bait for the tiger to take it under control. However, Wakil Gaddi, 28, of Jagadiya village in Fatehpur of Raptisonari Rural Municipality Ward 7 was attacked by a tiger just a day after the incident.


Tigers have killed five people in five months in Rapti Sonari and Narainapur villages of Banke. However, they could not be brought under control and the locals were furious about it.
