KATHMANDU, April 26: The Election Commission (EC) has publicized the additional name-list of those who have registered their nominations for local level election slated for May 13. As per the statistics till 12 noon today, the number of nominees registered is 144,416.
As per the update, there are 22,470 candidates in Province 1 and 37,377 candidates in Madhesh Province. Similarly, there are 23,923 candidates in Bagmati Province, 12,457 candidates in Gandaki Province, 22,766 candidates in Lumbini Province, 13,123 candidates in Karnali and 12,204 candidates in Sudurpaschim Province.

The commission has stated that this number may increase as the details of registration of candidates are still coming in.The EC has slated today (April 26) as the day to receive complaints, if any, against the candidates.
Investigation into the complaints will be carried out on April 27 and 28. It will be followed by the publication of the candidates’ name list. The deadline to withdraw nominations is April 29. After that the EC will publish the final name-list of the candidates.
