KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Parliamentarians of the ruling Nepal Communist Party in the National Assembly held a meeting with Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali to enquire about the much-talked-about US-proposed Millennium Challenge Corporation 500 million grant.
During the meeting, FM Gyawali told the NCP lawmakers that the MCC does not have any military component. "The MCC is not related to the Indo Pacific Strategy or any military alliance. I believe that it will be endorsed through the current session of the parliament," he said.

The foreign minister tried to allay concerns raised by a section of politicians that implementing the MCC project in Nepal is tantamount to joining US-led military alliance.
Khim Lal Bhattarai, chief whip of the NCP in the National Assembly, said that the NCP lawmakers raised questions about controversies being surfaced over the MCC.
