KATHMANDU, March 1: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal briefed agitating Madhes-based parties that the constitution amendment bill could fail from the parliament in the present situation.
Briefing the situation, PM Dahal urged Madhes-based parties to participate in the election putting the constitution amendment bill on hold.

Prime Minister Dahal had invited leaders of coalition partners Nepali Congress, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and agitating Madhes-based parties as well as Madhesi People's Right Forum - Democratic (MPRF-D) at his official residence Baluwatar.
"Prime Minister presented his assessment regarding the bill and urged us to participate in the local level election. On the other hand, we briefed the decision taken by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) that we'll not participate in any election unless and until the constitution is amended," said Raj Kishor Yadav, the chairman of Madhesi People's Right Forum - Republic (MPRF-R).
According to Yadav, PM proposed that the government will increase the number of local units in Madhes districts than what the commission formed to fix the number of local units has recommended.
Likewise, he proposed of bringing in another constitution amendment bill in parliament with the provision of removing village council's chairperson and vice-chairperson as well as mayor and deputy-mayors of the municipalities from the Electoral College to elect members of the National Assembly.
"It was PM's proposal but we said that the constitution amendment bill tabled in the parliament should be endorsed with revision. Otherwise, we'll not participate in the election," said Yadav.
