KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Industry, Commerce and Consumers' Welfare Committee has garnered information from the Ministry of Supplies whether it has implemented the direction on market monitoring.
During the Committee meeting on Sunday, Minister for Supplies, Dipak Bohara, said the Ministry was for gradual implementation of the Committee's direction rather than at once.

"Ministry has intensified market monitoring, it has been expanded to other districts addition to the capital city," he added.
The Ministry was directed to monitor the shortage of petroleum products, and supply of essential goods including cooking gas. Committee Chairman Bhishma Raj Angdambe said the Committee should fully implement the direction. Dillydally on it could not be tolerated, he underscored.
On the occasion, lawmaker Subashchandra Shah Thakuri said the market monitoring was showy and occasional but not substantial. Market monitoring should be made a regular process, he added, pointing out the need of taking stringent action those violating the laws.
Another lawmaker Rajya Laxmi Shrestha suggested the government that it empowered the market monitoring team and gave continuity to it. Not only market but also other areas as education, health and transport need to the monitored, she emphasized. RSS
