KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused the cabinet ministers and politicians of indulging into corruption while transferring and promoting the government employees.

Nepal, who is also a senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, said so while addressing a program in the capital on Monday.

"Corruption is now deep-rooted in all sectors across the country especially due to the rampant corruption in the government service. Unfortunately, cabinet ministers and politicians themselves receive huge kickbacks while transferring and promoting the government employees," he said.

Leader Nepal also accused the local representatives of indulging into corruption in collusion with local government employees.

"As a result, there is a gross misuse of fiscal year budget at the local levels in recent years. The government should check such activities and take stringent action against those involved in corruption at the local levels," he said.

He also advised the government to take bold moves to maintain good governance and rule of law in the country. "To maintain good governance in the country, the government should immediately seize the ancestral properties of those involved in corruption," he said.

In another context, the former premier said that the local bodies should provide enough subsidies to the farmers in a bid to enhance agricultural production in the country. "At the same time, the local bodies should increase budget in the agriculture sector," he said.
