'Mutual cooperation should be enhanced to expand energy trade between Nepal and India'

KATHMANDU, August 3: Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava had a courtesy meeting with Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal on Wednesday.



In the meeting held today at the ministry, the two discussed the issues of energy trade and flood control. On that occasion, Minister Bhusal stated that 1,000 houses were displaced due to floods in Saptakoshi along with heavy rains and stressed that the problem should be solved proactively by the mechanisms of both sides.

She said that in order to further expand the energy trade between Nepal and India, mutual cooperation should be enhanced. In order to make the implementation of the projects agreed between Nepal and India effective, Minister Bhusal emphasized on the need to speed up the bilateral preparations for the construction of the projects in the future.


On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava said that he is continuously discussing with the government and private sectors related to India's hydropower and irrigation, and assured that in the future the implementation of the projects agreed between the two countries will be taken forward in an effective manner. He said that India is ready to further expand the energy trade between the two countries for mutual benefits.
