BABIYACHAUR (Myagdi), Sept 5: Locals in various 10 VDCs in the northern part of Mygadi district have been facing difficulties since the floods swept away most of the local bridges, trekking trails and roads in the locality.

An overnight flood occurred in a local river Beg Khola on September 1 has swept away the bailey bridges and suspension bridges.

Locals are crossing the Beg Khola at their own risk in lack of bridges, according to Dut Bahadur Garbuja, a local at Tiplyang in the district.

Security officials from Nepal Army personnel and Nepal Police as well as the volunteers have been offering help to the locals, including vulnerable persons, to help them cross the river by carrying them at their back.

Whole some choose to take an alternative route to reach their destinations avoiding the swollen Beg Khola, added local Garbuja.

The flood has also blocked Kali Gandaki River and formed an artificial pond.

Similarly, a portion of road in the vicinity has been swept by the flood.

In lack of bridges, locals in Mustang, tourists and pilgrims have been hit hard and stranded in Mustang.

Farmers and local business persons are worried that their produce- such as apple and orange- will be rotten before reaching the market outside of their district as the installation of flood-damaged bridges and maintenance of roads is taking forever to take a pace.

The local administration is waiting for the flood in the River to contain and start repairing the road, said Keshavraj Acharya, Chief District Officer in Myagdi .RSS
