Narayangadh – Muglin road back into operation

CHITWAN, Sept 12: The Narayangadh-Muglin road has been opened for two-way traffic after the landslide debris deposited at Charkilo was cleared after 34 hours of its occurrence. Thelandslide had occurred at Charkilo at 1.30 pm on Tuesday, blocking the road.

CHITWAN, Sept 12: The Narayangadh-Muglin road has been opened for two-way traffic after the landslide debris deposited at Charkilo was cleared after 34 hours of its occurrence. Thelandslide had occurred at Charkilo at 1.30 pm on Tuesday, blocking the road. 



The road was opened for one-way traffic at 6.30 pm on Tuesday and it has been opened for two-way traffic since 11.45 today, the District Police Office, Chitwan stated.

Smaller landslides had also occurred at Satra Kilo, Gaighat, Ghumaune, Naukilo, among other places along the road. The landslide debris at these places had been cleared off on Tuesday itself. 


Engineer at the Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project, Shiva Khanal, said that a huge landslide had occurred at Charkilo and it took long time to remove the landslide debris. According to him, soil and big boulders dropped from 100 metres above the road and deposited on 100 metres stretch of the highway.
