National consensus a must for transitional justice management: President Paudel

KATHMANDU, March 18: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that national consensus and unity is necessary to ensure effective management of transitional justice.



President Paudel said this while addressing the high tea organized for MPs at Sheetal Niwas.

He said that in addition to the management of transitional justice, there is a need for national consensus in the economic sector, the protection of political achievements and the management of the effects of climate change.


"If we do not pay attention to the rapid economic and social transformation by making use of the political achievements, we should be serious about the fact that the country’s achievements may be attacked," he said.


President Poudel said that if the democratic institutions are not strong and law-abiding, the trust of citizens in such institutions will be lost and people will become disillusioned with the system, saying that the government should be careful in this regard as well.
