KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Nepal Bar Association (NBA)-- the umbrella organization of lawyers across the country– is staging a protest to prevent Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana from entering the Supreme Court.
On Wednesday, Chief Justice Rana was preparing to enter the SC after receiving the letter from the Parliament Secretariat that the impeachment motion filed against him was no longer effective. After that, officials of NBA and Supreme Court Bar Association gathered at the main entrance of the apex court on Wednesday afternoon to stop Chief Justice Rana from resuming the office .

The NAB has stood against allowing Rana to enter the SC under any circumstances. Lawyers argue that Rana should not be allowed to serve as the Chief Justice as he is incapable of leading the country’s top court both from a legal and ethical point of view.
CJ Rana is retiring from the post on Tuesday due to age limit.
