KATHMANDU, March 15: The Nepali Congress (NC) has instructed the relevant bodies of the party to propose and recommend names for the first-past-the-post by-election in Chitwan constituency No. 2 and other constituencies to be held in April 2023.
This decision was taken by a meeting of the central work performance committee of the party held today at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
UML sets September 7 deadline for recommendation of candidates
According to Article 32 (8) of the party’s statute, the Nepali Congress has decided to direct the relevant bodies of the party to propose and recommend the names of the candidates, as per a statement issued by NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.
Dr Mahat said that there was no discussion in the meeting about the participation of NC in the government. He added that the government will be expanded only after the Prime Minister takes the vote of confidence by March 21.
Today's meeting expressed a request to support Ramsahay Prasad Yadav in the vice presidency and gratitude to all the parties and parliamentarians who supported Ramchandra Paudel in the presidency. The participants of the meeting also wished Ram Chandra Paudel a successful tenure.
