KATHMANDU, April 3: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Jeet Narayan Shrestha has filed his candidacy for the post of member of the House of Representatives (HoR) for the by-election being held in Chitwan-2.
Shrestha reached the Office of Chief Returning Officer in Bharatpur at 3:15 pm and registered his candidacy for the by-election to be held on 23rd April.

Shrestha's supporters include CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Ram Chandra Adhikari and NC District Committee President Rajeshwar Khanal.
After filing the nominations, Shrestha said that Chitwan should not be allowed to become a laboratory for elections. Jeet Narayan Shrestha has the support of Maoist Center, Unified Socialist and Janata Samajwadi Party.
A by-election is being held in Chitwan-2 after the Supreme Court scrapped the HoR membership of Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, in the citizenship dispute. Lamichhane won the election on November 20 with a majority of votes.
