NC pressed to decide on impeachment only after Karki’s clarification

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have pressed the party leadership not to immediately forge an official opinion on the impeachment motion filed against suspended Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki.

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have pressed the party leadership not to immediately forge an official opinion on the impeachment motion filed against suspended Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki.



Majority of the leaders speaking at Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the party on Sunday said that the party should come up with an official view only after Karki furnishes his clarification before the impeachment recommendation committee.

However, NC leaders Dhanraj Gurung and Surendraraj Pandey among others said that the party should stand in favor of the impeachment motion. They said that the going against the rule of law and people’s aspiration will ultimately harm the party.


 Some 27 CWC members had registered their names to speak at the today’s meeting of the party. Till this evening, 18 members have aired their views.


As many as 157 lawmakers from the main opposition CPN-UML and major ruling party CPN (Maoist Center) had registered an impeachment motion against Karki in the parliament last week. The House is set to begin deliberations of the motion from Tuesday.
