DAMAULI, May 23: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Baikuntha Nath Neupane has been elected as the mayor of Byas municipality in Tanahun for a second term. He secured 12,078 votes while his closest contender Deepak Raj Joshi, an independent candidate, obtained 11,826 votes.
Likewise, NC candidate Indira Darai emerged victorious to the post of deputy mayor in Damauli municipality with 13,498 votes. Her nearest rival Basundhara Gharti of CPN-UML received 10,042 votes.
