KATHMANDU, April 10: The Nepali Congress (NC)’s stand that a 'parliamentary inquiry committee' must be formed to investigate Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is gradually gaining strength.

Even from Monday to Wednesday, the Parliament Secretariat was forced to change the daily work schedule of the House of Representatives (HoR) after the NC did not backtrack on its stand.

The work schedule of parliament has been changed after the NC adopted the strategy of not allowing Home Minister Lamichhane to present the bill standing in the rostrum under any circumstances until the committee is formed.

On April 9, the matter that was to be presented by Home Minister Lamichhane in the meeting of the HoR was removed from the work schedule by the Secretariat. In Tuesday's work schedule, Home Minister Lamichhane proposed that the bill on political parties be considered in the HoR, which has been removed from Wednesday's work schedule.

At the beginning of Tuesday's meeting, the meeting was adjourned after NC lawmakers encircled the well and chanted slogans. After this, the Speaker mentioned that the meeting was adjourned for 15 minutes. But eventually, the meeting was adjourned till 11 AM on Wednesday after the ruling parties and the main opposition NC did not agree.

Therefore, the bill that was supposed to be presented by Home Minister Lamichhane on Tuesday could not be presented in the HoR.
