Spokesperson Mahat accused the CPN-UML of being without an agenda after the local level election and therefore launching various unbridled campaigns against the government targeting the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He stressed on the need for Nepal to conduct a stable and balanced foreign policy without looking at any country or time.

On another occasion, he also said that the possibility of Birgunj Sugar Factory and Agriculture equipment factory being operated again is very low.  Stating that the government should have a policy to make the private sector competitive, Mahat said that the government should increase investment in areas like health, education and infrastructure construction. He was of the view that the government should not intervene in the field of industry and trade as the economic development of the country would not be possible without the active participation of the private sector.

Mahat said that the five-party alliance, including the Nepali Congress, has achieved good results in the local level elections, adding that the coalition will remain till the upcoming provincial and federal election.
