KATHMANDU, July 3: Ncell Private Limited, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has conferred 'Ncell Scholarships and Excellence Awards' to the outstanding students of five various faculties of the Institute of Engineering (IoE), Pulchowk Campus.
Issuing a statement, the telecommunication company said that it handed over the awards amidst a ceremony on Tuesday at Hotel Himalaya along with the faculty of IoE and family members of the winning students.
Ncell awards engineering students
Under the Ncell Scholarships and Excellence Awards program, Ncell will provide scholarships and excellence awards worth Rs 13 million to top scoring students for the next five years (2019-2023), according to the statement.
“The Ncell Scholarship and Excellence Awards program aims at encouraging technical education and recognizes young talents who have demonstrated extraordinary academic excellence,” read the statement. As a responsible corporate citizen, Ncell had initiated this program at Pulchowk Campus in 2014. From 2014-2018, a total of 60 students have been granted with Ncell Scholarships and 20 students were coffered with Ncell Excellence Awards,
according to the statement.
This year 18 Ncell Scholarships were conferred to the topper students of BE Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Computer, Civil and Mechanical engineering, according to the statement. Similarly, 6 students who graduated from these five faculties securing highest marks received Ncell Excellence Awards.
“Ncell Scholarships have been a great encouragement for bright students, while Ncell Excellence Awards for graduates are something very special that promote academic excellence and best talents. We are proud to have a partnership with Ncell since 2014 and look forward to fostering our relationship in the coming years,” the statement quoted Prof. Dr. Laxman Poudel, Campus Chief of the Pulchowk Campus as saying. “We are extremely happy to support IoE through Ncell Scholarships and Excellence Awards yet again for the second phase, 2019-2023.
I am pleased that we are recognizing meritorious engineering students for their academic excellence,” the statement quoted Andy Chong, CEO of Ncell, as saying.
