NEA sold Rs 15 billion worth of electricity in one year

KATHMANDU, March 31: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has exported electricity worth Rs 15 billion in the last year.



Prawal Adhikari, the former deputy executive director of the NEA, reported that electricity valued at Rs 15 billion was sold from January 15, 2023, to November 17, 2023. During this period, 175 billion units of electricity were sold. Notably, he mentioned the success in exporting electricity to India even during the rainy and winter seasons.

Adhikari emphasized the need to increase electricity exports in the future. He advocated for the NEA to sell more electricity in the coming years to earn profits and contribute to the country's economic improvement.


"According to the most recent data, we have sold about Rs 15 billion worth of electricity until March 23," he stated. The NEA has opted to export surplus electricity that is not consumed domestically.
