KATHMANDU, March 19: Nepal and Eastern African country, Seychelles have reached an agreement to make a bilateral labor pact between the two countries.
The agreement was made in a bilateral meeting held between Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, who is on a visit to Republican Seychelles, and Minister for Employment and Social Affairs Patricia Francourt and Minister for Home Affairs Errol Fonseka.
An agreement was reached to form a joint task force to bring the bilateral labor pact to a conclusion in a month, shared the Ministry's secretariat.
Nepal, Malaysia agree to revise labor agreement
Minister Shrestha said that Nepal is ready to sign a bilateral labor pact with Seychelles.
The joint task force will make necessary preparation on issues such as minimum qualification, linguistic competence and minimum remuneration.
The Ministry's Under Secretary Dr Thaneswor Bhusal is leading the joint task force on behalf of Nepal.
As many as 1,250 Nepali people now are working in Seychelles, the Minister Fancourt informed on the occasion, adding their government is interested in taking more Nepali workers after formal signing of the labor pact.
