KATHMANDU May 15: A group of 10 people, including five soldiers from the team involved in cleaning Everest and Lhotse mountains, has climbed the highest peak in the world under the direction of Nepal Army's Safa Himal Campaign, 2023.
The Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information shared that the team leader, Lieutenant Colonel Kishor Adhikari, Captain Bishnubal Rai, Captain Dipendra Singh Khatri, Corporal Shankar Kunwar and Lance Corporal Kishore Jabegu reached the peak of Mt. Everest at 10:05 am today.

5 Sherpas, including Sardar Ongchu Sherpa, reached the peak as well. Earlier, on April 17, members of the Annapurna cleaning team successfully completed their climb for the Safa Himal Campaign.
The Campaign was launched on March 27 with Army Chief Prabhuram Sharma handing over the 'Flag of Ceremony' at the Nepal Army headquarters in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.
The Nepal Army’s aim is to gather around 35,000 kilos of waste from Everest, Lhoste, Baruntse and Annapurna. 32,311 kilos of waste has been collected thus far. According to the directorate, the campaign will conclude on World Environment Day.
