Nepal, Gautam discuss party unification

KATHMANDU, May 10: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal and CPN (Unity National Campaign) coordinator Bam Dev Gautam have held a meeting on Tuesday.



In the meeting held at CPN (US) central office, the two discussed the latest political affairs and efforts being made for unification bid among the leftist forces subscribing similar ideologies, according to Jagannath Khatiwada, party deputy general-secretary.

Chairperson Nepal, also former Prime Minister, had proposed Gautam for unifying leftist parties in a bid to build a stronger communist force by integrating all the scattered small leftist parties for protection of Nepal's communist movement and nationalism as well as for the development and prosperity of the country.


In the meeting, leader Gautam said that he was positive about unification bid and would reach a decision very soon after holding discussion with his group, informed Khatiwada.


A taskforce led by party Vice-Chairperson Dr Beduram Bhusal was formed to spearhead the unification bid among the leftist parties subscribing similar ideals and values.


The taskforce had also approached CPN (Maoist Centre) and Janata Samajwadi Party and held dialogues in various rounds for unification
