Nepal records 3,403 new cases, 2,104 recoveries and 42 deaths on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, August 18: The Kathmandu Valley recorded 993 cases of COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 711 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 122 in Bhaktapur and 160 in Lalitpur.

KATHMANDU, August 18: Nepal recorded 3,403 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 2,104 recoveries and 42 deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 16,838 tests were conducted on Wednesday. Of them, 2,613 PCR tests and 790 antigen tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19. 


According to the MoHP, there are currently 40,338 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 36,806 are in home isolation, 3,532 in institutional isolation, 770 in ICUs, 168 on ventilators and 457 in institutional quarantine.


Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 993 cases of COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 711 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 122 in Bhaktapur and 160 in Lalitpur. 


The health ministry has urged the people to take COVID-tests and follow the safety and health protocols, citing the increase in the number of infections and a decrease in recovery rates in the past few days.
