Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 4,825 new cases



KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal recorded the grim milestone of 8,659 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 8,605 people tested positive for COVID-19 through PCR tests and 54 persons through antigen tests.


There are currently 66,352 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 61,588 are in home isolation. Similarly, 1,993 COVID-19 patients recovered in the past 24 hours.


Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded as many as 4,825 new cases on Wednesday. Of them, 3,849 were detected in Kathmandu, 518 in Lalitpur and 458 in Bhaktapur.


As of Wednesday, 318 people are in quarantine facilities, 600 in ICU and 156 on ventilators across the country.
