KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Nepal has supported Spain's efforts to ensure territorial integrity of the country in the aftermath of Catalonia declaring independence following a controversial referendum. Issuing a press statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Nepal opposes any attempt to the secession of the country.
“Nepal unequivocally respects and supports the sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity of Spain and firmly opposes any attempts to the secession of the country,” said the statement.

MoFA said Nepal and the kingdom of Spain enjoy cordial and friendly bilateral relations based on friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and respect for each other's aspirations.
“Nepal is of the view that domestic issues must be settled within the constitutional framework of the country,” the statement further said.
