KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokharel has said that the government is willing to learn from experiences of the Chinese government.

Addressing 'China-Nepal Youth Corporation Conference' organized by Silk Road Youth Forum in the capital on Monday, Minister Pokharel stated that the government wants to learn from the Chinese government as both of the countries are led by communist parties.

Pokharel, however, stressed the need for developing Nepal’s unique ideology, but not imitating the Chinese Communist Party’s principles.

“Keeping the people’s interest at the center has always been common characteristics of both the NCP and CPC,” said he.

Reminding of the speech by the Chinese President Xi Jinping during his two-day state visit to Nepal that China would help Nepal transform itself from landlocked to land-linked country, Pokharel said that Nepal would soon be established as a land-linked country.

According to him, the visit of the Chinese president after a hiatus of 23 years has added a new milestone to heighten age-long ties between Nepal and China.

"Xi’s visit to Nepal was primarily to strengthen bilateral relations in the changed context but not to request any grants as some had ridiculed before his historic sojourn," Pokharel clarified.

Pokharel stated that the government is all committed to strict implementation of deals signed between the two sides during the visit of President XI and deepening the ties between the two countries practically.
