Nepali player victorious in IGU 122nd amateur golf championship

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Subash Tamang, an ace amateur golfer of Nepal, won the title of the prestigious IGU 122nd Amateur Golf Championship of India on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Subash Tamang, an ace amateur golfer of Nepal, won the title of the prestigious IGU 122nd Amateur Golf Championship of India on Sunday.

In the final competition held at Royal Kolkata Golf Club in the match-play format and in the 36-hole stroke, Subash beat Indian golfer Rohit. Subash secured the win, leading by 9 holes on the 29-hole. 


In the semi-final match last Saturday, Subash beat South Africa's Altin Van Der Merwe. Subash is also the double gold medalist in the 13th South Asian Championship held in Nepal in 2019. Subash, who received scholarship from the Nepal Olympic Committee for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, is undergoing training in Tarun Sirdesai Golf Academy in Bangalore, India at present.
