KATHMANDU, Oct 3: A Nepali team left here on Monday for New Delhi to take part in a meeting of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India relations scheduled to begin from tomorrow.

The team led by foreign diplomat Bhesh Bahadur Thapa comprises former minister and constitutional expert Nelambar Acharya, lawmaker Rajan Bhattarai and Surya Nath Upadhyay.

Nepal is expected to propose the meeting to review the 1950 Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship treaty, as shared by lawmaker Bhattarai.

It is noted that in the previous (first) meeting of the group that was held in Nepal last July, the Indian side said India was ready to revise the treaty, urging Nepal to come up with a proposal towards this end.

Indian lawmaker Bhagat Singh Kosiyari, former ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad, professor BC Upreti and Mahendra P Lama are taking part in the meeting on behalf of the Indian side. RSS
